I live in a compound of 5 houses, our electricity bills are delivered all at the same time and since our house is farthest from the gate our bill is often handed last, it’s like receiving a court order that I’ll be sent to the gas chamber any minute soon.
Seriously, we used to have a bill with just three figures on it; those were the times when there weren’t any malls, cafes, resorts and other humungous establishments and housing developments that consume a lot of electricity. Years after, a household of five, six actually including my MIL – consumes this much figures. I tried to have the lady at the customer service of our electricity provider explain the figures typed in here, all entries have corresponding amount by the way, and how many of us have understood what the heck are these and that for? – Yeah, they goes right at where my plug is sucking power to make this blog running – OK, I get that, I only identify with Systems loss since Judy Ann Santos explained it right on TV with water on the cellophane as her analogy, and hell why do I have to pay for something these companies are so careless about.

And why aren’t there any alternative power and light company here in Davao? And why can’t the government push for an individual household solar power package? Can this viable project really drain the treasury? Monopoly indeed sucks. Lately, at the Mindanao Power Summit, PNoy, whom I love dearly before but I had a change of heart unless he grow his hair and let our power rates down, said, aaaahhh, it’ll hurt my wallet if I say it, but indirectly it goes something like … hey, lady, prepare for something worst and pull down your airconditioners, watch TV less, blog less and do this include – watch drama less? I can’t be living, this is my escape.
This is another discourse in our society that I don’t know who blame anymore, the government – that can only offer subsidies when worst case scenarios happen, The Davao Light that act as if they’re serving us good and leave us penniless after 15th of each month? Our hunger for development? Corporations creating faux needs? Consumerism that is directly link to electricity consumption? Increasing number of people? Increasing number of households, etc., etc. or is it the decline of natural resources where all of these are coming from?
One thing is certain, under painful circumstance I’m paying this bill or this blog won’t fly anymore and, oh, by the way no words for an increase of salary yet

sus, we are on the same boat Mommy… That’s why I would personally campaign for SOLAR ENERGY… safer coz it won’t hurt the environment, and it’s renewable.. may hurt the wallet, true, but it won’t because it won’t be MIndanao alone who will be paying for it, but the entire nation, just as it is with other projects in Luzon, which we Mindanaoans are also paying for..
hello Mommy Dharlz.. so true, in fact pwede ra kaayo i push sa government ang household solar packages, maybe expensive in the beginning pero kana jud ang sustainable .. kaso walay kwarta man gud ani ang gobyerno ug ang davao light diri in the longrun.. mao dili jud siya supurtahan..
